Gabe Newell says Valve’s development direction is hard to predict and is asked about Episode Three in an interview with IGN: “As I’m reminded of on an almost daily basis, we seemed to be really excited about that episodic thing with [Half-Life 2] Episode One and Episode Two, and then we’ve gone completely radio silent subsequently. Sometimes it’s even dangerous for us to predict what we’ll do next.” When asked to elaborate on Episode Three, Valve VP of Marketing Doug Lombardi laughed and said “Gabe opened the door and I’ll shut it”
Japan is devastated by the most powerful earthquake it has ever recorded. The magnitude 9.0 quake lasted 6 minutes, triggered massive tsunami waves that reached heights of 144 feet and caused nuclear meltdown in three reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. This natural disaster caused at least 15,894 deaths.
Valve’s Doug Lombardi confirms more Half-Life is coming. “We are not done with Gordon Freeman’s adventures. I have nothing other than that to tell you today, but hang in there with us.” He also says: “We’ve been really, really fortunate and been able to work on things that we truly are interested in working on. We haven’t sort of ever, you know, flip the bit and said ‘well, let’s just make fancier versions of Half-Life for the rest of our lives and collect all the money.’ We’ve actually done the opposite – sometimes to our fans chagrin.” (@11m)
